The project involved review of the long-term slope stability
and restoration proposals. Slope stability analyses
to check existing slopes and to determine optimum extraction
profile adjacent to land fill site were undertaken.
Sensitivity analyses were undertaken to maximise mineral
recovery.

The publication of MPG5:Stability in Surface Mineral Workings and Tips
in January 2000 has reinforced the need for quarries to be adequately
designed, stability being a material planning consideration.
In this example, in order to achieve planning permission for a new quarry
tip a report on the stability of the proposed structure had to be produced.
Stability analyses were undertaken and a design and contract documents
were drawn up to allow the construction of the tip.
KeyGS’involvement included site supervision during construction and
post construction inspections. |
